Declared by the city of Boston in 1989, April 24 isn’t just another date on the calendar—it’s New Kids on the Block Day. And for those of us who’ve loved them since cassette tapes and teen magazines, this isn’t nostalgia. It’s personal.
It’s Jordan, Jonathan, Danny, Donnie, and Joey. It’s posters on our bedroom walls and voices that carried us through every heartbreak and victory. And for me? It’s Baby, I Believe in You. On the days when writing feels impossible—when I doubt my worth, my words, my dream—I press play. And when Jordan Knight sings those words, I feel like I can breathe again. Like maybe, just maybe, I can do this.
That’s what they’ve always been for me. A reminder to keep going. A reason to believe in myself.
Happy New Kids Day to the five guys who taught us how about Hangin’ Tough, made us feel like Cover Girls, and encouraged us to take life Step by Step. You’ve still got The Right Stuff—and we’ll be Lovin’ You Forever.
